Day 10 - Braga - Gunsang - Yak Kharka (4018m / 13,182ft) November 8, 2001

Our trek leader Chris with his friend Karma Gurung, owner of the new Hotel Buddha in Braga. A big, clean, attractive lodge where the rooms have indoor windows and where we had some amazing apple crumble after a relaxing, hot shower.

Looking west-north up the Marsayangdi valley

Now we veer off north up the Jhargeng Khola valley as we approach the Thorung La

The ice wall at the center-right is the Grand Barriere, as named by Maurice Herzog, the first man to climb an 8000m peak. On the other side of the GB is the Annapurna Sanctuary

Chilly camp at Yak Kharka which is Nepali for "Yak pasture"

Across the valley we had multiple sightings of the elusive blue sheep, a type of mountain deer/goat hybrid

...and this is why this place is so named. It was incredible that they didn't take down our tents when some of them walked through our campsite
