Day 16 - Kalopani - Ghasa - Dana (1400m/4593ft) November 14, 2001

Just left of center you can see the Dhaulagiri icefall from Kalopani 2530m/8301ft, which is Nepali for black water

This was the 2nd day of the Hindu Tihar (Deepavali/Deewali) festival of lights. On this day, called Kukur Tihar, dogs are celebrated with a big red tikka placed on their forehead and a garland around their neck.

A treacherous landslide crossing this morning.

A cute little pup joined us for lunch. As people who know me would not be suprised to hear, dogs did not go unfed when I was around before, during and after the trek.
