Lunch enroute
from Namche to Tengboche. Like the brochure said, meals were
suprisingly tasty.

Who else but
Indra could bake chocolate cakes over kerosene stoves at

The trail from
Namche to Tengboche was typical Nepali Flat, down,
down to cross a river, then merciless uphill afterwards. CHE likes
to plan lunches for just before the uphills so you can burn those
carbs.

Tengboche
Gompa (monastery), 12,800ft / 3900m. This beautiful place was the
reward for a punishing 2 hour ascent up a hill rivalling Namche hill.
This is the most important Bhuddist monastery in the Khumbu. It was
featured in the Everest IMAX movie. |

Several hundred
feet below Tengboche, through a rhododendron forest, we pitched our
campsite, at Deboche.
Here is where Celeste's trip ended and she headed back to New York
while the rest of us continued towards Base Camp. |
