Tierra
del Fuego translates to land of fire. Apparently
when the first Europeans arrived they saw the natives
had lit fires all over the country side hence the
origin of the name.
The
city of Ushuaia, population of 50,000. This
is most southernly city on the planet which as an
airport. Ships to Antarctica dock here. They really
get a lot of mileage from their fin del monde /
end of the world status
