November 16- Buenos Aires

Sunday morning in San Telmo park. We noticed a visible police presence so I guess this is an area frequented by tourists

Colour characters near the San Telmo flea market

In this mall I found a shop selling Yerba Mate mugs a lot cheaper than out on the street

The market was packed, which is the norm for a Sunday

A great place to pick up souvenirs like leather bags and mate mugs

I hooked up with my young friend Juan again later that Sunday, in my last hours in Argentina

So as you can see I had a great time in my 17 days in Argentina. I really, really regret not adding on a trip to Igazu Falls in the north, which I hear is the greatest waterfall in the world. And I regret not making that trip to walk in the Perito Moreno glacier. So now I have reasons to return, that and the fact that for tourists Argentina is a bargain since they were forced to devalue their currency 2 years ago. You can eat an excellent steak meal with wine for $10 easily here. A buck for a large bottle of beer. The people are friendly, the food is cheap and the scenery is fantastic. Who wouldn't want to visit here?

To that end I've enrolled in beginner Spanish class at a community college in Toronto. My classes start in Jan. 2004. So hopefully I'll be able to practice my new Spanish skills on my next trip to Argentina or another Spanish speaking country.
