Not
far from my hotel in the touristy Miraflores area of Lima
is the attractive shopping mall Larco Mar. A collection
of ritzy stores and nice restuarants over looking the sea.

Plaza
Bolivar in downtown Lima. This is the place where General Jose
de San Martin declared Peru's independence. The statue here
is called the Liberator

Plaza

In
Lima's main square, the Plaza de Armas, stands the controversial
statue of Francisco Pizzaro, the Spanish Conquistador who
destroyed the Inca empire through a combination of strategy, guile
and incredible good timing and luck. Spanish patriots would probably
like to see this statue displayed prominently in the center of the
plaza but it's tucked off to a corner, possibly as a compromise
who see him as an instigator of genocide.
